Update Monitor Drivers

What is a Monitor?
A monitor(also known as Screen, Display, Video display, Video screen and Visual display unit) is a device that displays images or symbols generated by computers, without producing a permanent record. The monitor comprises the display devices, circuitry, and an enclosure. Monitors come into two types—CRT and LCD.

CRT monitors look much like traditional television and are very deep in size.

LCD monitors are much thinner and has the same good function as CRT or even better in graphics quality. Because of its portable design and decreasing price, LCD monitors are beginning to obsolete CRT monitors.

Fix Monitor Problems

Although the computer monitor is one of the most robust pieces of hardware on your computer, it can go bad too. If your monitor isn’t working right, please do not attempt to open and repair monitor yourself unless you’re skilled at this kind of work. They retain dangerously high voltages even after they are unplugged. And here are some safe troubleshooting tips for you to refer as below:

Problem 1: Text is blurry
Solution: Adjust the Moire on your monitor.
This control refers to a form of distortion in which vertical wavy lines appear in an image, making text or high-contrast portions of the image appear fuzzy. The default Vertical Moire setting is usually zero.

Problem 2: Monitor Flickers

Solution: Check the refresh rate.

  1. Right click an empty area of your desktop.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Select the Advanced button.
  5. Click the Monitor tab.
  6. Within this window you will be able to increase and decrease the computer monitor's refresh rate. We recommend that you set the refresh rate to at least 75Hz, if supported.

Problem3 Monitor is blank after restarting system:

Step 1: Ensure that the monitor has power and that the light is on.
Step 2: Disconnect all devices and restart the computer to see if the problem is settled. If it is, then it’s one of the devices that have disconnected bringing this issue. Try to connecting the devices to the monitor one at a time and restarting each time till the original problem occurs. Once known, try to reinstall the device and update the driver to solve the problem.
Step 3: Connect your monitor and power cable to a different PC. If it doesn’t work, then change a new power cable.
Step 4: if none of the tips above solve your problem, it is likely that your monitor is bad. Then take your monitor to the Service Centre or buy a new one.

Multiple monitors' setup

Multiple monitors working is to connect more external monitors to a laptop or a desktop which as a primary computer. Technically speaking, windows XP can support up to ten monitors. Sometimes adding external monitors is not enough; you have to add other individual video adapters or a single video adapter that supports multiple outputs. The video adapter should be compatible with your computer and has connectors that match the monitors you plan to use. For instance, a video card may support a dual monitor setup but may be limited to a certain monitor size. Add an external monitor may make your current video card out of equation. Using a right video card and update it. If the card adapter can not connect directly to multiple monitors, then update it with a right adapter.

Multiple monitors’ setup instructions:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.
  3. On the Settings tab, click Identify to display a large number on each of your monitors. This shows which monitor corresponds with each icon.
  4. Click the monitor icons and drag them on positions that represent how you want to move items from one monitor to another, and then click OK or Apply to view changes.

Without adding extra video adapters, there are also other ways to connect multiple monitors. If you don’t have the option of adding another video adapter, you also can expand your display to a second monitor by using Dualview or Maxivista.

Configure Dualview:

You can use Dualview on many portable computers and some desktop computers (those with two video ports on one video card). Except that you are not able to choose the primary display, Dualview is almost the same as multiple monitor.
Once you connect the second monitor and turn on your computer, use Display in Control Panel to configure your settings, just as you do with multiple monitors.

1. Right click the desktop, and then click Properties.
2. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the settings tab.
3. Click the Display list and select your external monitor.
4. Select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor option. Click Apply or OK.

Configure MaxiVista:

MaxiVista turns any network computer into an external monitor. You don’t need to add an additional video adapter, just connect the computers across network, download and install the Maxivista demo as below:

  1. Connect your primary computer (the laptop or the desktop connecting with keyboard and mouse) and the secondary computer across network.
  2. Download and open MaxiVistademo.Zip
  3. Run MaxiVista_Setup_PrimaryPC.exe on the primary PC and follow the wizard's instructions.
  4. Run MaxiVista_Setup_PrimaryPC.exe on the second PC and follow the wizard's instructions.
  5. Right click the MaxiVista icon in the notification area and then click Enable Secondary Display

You cannot play 3-D games or watch DVDs on display by running MaxiVista; however, you can keep your instant messages, e-mail, Web browser or word processor. Though it has its limitation, MaxiVista can expand your display size without adding any new hardware.
